I feel most alive when I am moving. I have spent a lifetime in various dance classes and recently fell in love with rhythm tap dancing. I was a dance major at Brenau University in Gainesville, GA and moved to NYC to continue my dance education in 1994. I studied massage at the Swedish Institute of Allied Health Sciences and became a licensed massage therapist in 1998. I built a busy private practice in Manhattan and now I am building a new practice in NW Philadelphia.
My continuing education in massage includes Swedish, Shiatsu, Thai, Lomi Lomi, deep tissue, myofascial release, and sports massage as well as prenatal massage and infant massage instruction. In 2009 I began training in the MELT method and am certified to teach the hand and foot treatments, the MELT length series and the MELT strength series. In 2012 I completed the Swedish Institute’s advanced personal training certification. I also hold a Level 1 Kettlebell certification, an Indian clubs certification, and I am a Next Generation Yoga for Kids instructor.
From time to time I get the privilege of working with the fantastic staff and crew of Lindblad/NatGeo Expeditions where I am a wellness specialist on one of their small cruise ships. While onboard, I get to combine my passion for movement and health with their mission of exploration and education through nature and small expedition travel.
I moved to Philadelphia in 2015 because I wanted the Wissahickon Valley park to be my backyard! I spend as much time as I can there with my high-energy puppy. This year I have also been excited to work with the dancers of the PA Ballet for the 2018/2019 season. My all-time favorite job title is “Aunt Jen Jen” and I have four busy nephews who definitely keep me moving!
